Sacred Aging Series

Jewish Family Services Family Life Education Department is sponsoring a three-part Sacred Aging Series to assist older adults and their families in dealing with a variety of issues. The series will be held from 2-4 p.m. on three Sundays – Oct. 25, Nov. 8 and Nov. 15 at Kehilath Israel Synagogue, 10501 Conser, in Overland Park, Kansas. Cost to attend the series is just $25 per family or $10 for an individual session. The three topics and speakers include:

  • Oct. 25“The Saging of Aging” with Jewish Community Chaplain Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick and Dawn Herbet, JFS director of Older Adult Initiative. Gain spiritual insights into the issues of aging and learn about services available for older adults.

  • Nov. 8“The Role of Family Eldercare Givers” with Ray Smith, Director of Eldercare Givers program at Avila University.  Learn how to compare local long-term care providers by cost and quality as well as how to minimize costs.

  • Nov. 15“The Eldercare Journey – How to Protect Yourself, Your Family and Your Finances” with Kenneth A. Herring, an attorney with The Elder and Disability Law Firm. Tips on how to avoid having your life savings wiped out by nursing home spendown and information on veteran’s benefits most people don’t know about.
