Rosh Hashanah Food Drive

The economy continues to falter, and each day more and more in our community are pressed financially. With the High Holy Days coming up, some families will find it difficult to put food on the table for Rosh Hashanah.
JFS would like to know if you or your family – young or not so young - are in need of help this holiday. If so, please contact Sondra Levy Atherly at 913-327-8265. All information will remain confidential. JFS also seeks your help in assisting those in need.
Along with receiving monetary and food donations from several area congregations, JFS is also seeking cash donations (click here to donate) to purchase High Holiday food items, including honey, fresh fruits and vegetables, chicken, and challah.
Donated food items can be dropped off at the JFS offices in Suite 103 or in the JFS Holiday Donation barrel in the lobby of the Jewish Community Campus 5801 West 115th Street in Overland Park.
New this year - recyclable, reusable grocery bags for the project are being donated by Whole Foods.
Items will be collected until September 8.
High Holy Days food bags will be assembled by JFS volunteers on September 14 and 15 with deliveries taking place September 15-18 prior to Erev Rosh Hashanah on Friday September 18.
For more information on volunteering, contact Sondra Levy Atherly at 913-327-8265 or satherly@jfskc.org.
