A True Story from JFS

If they look familiar, it's because they are. They could be your parents.

This lovely couple, a devoted husband and wife in their 70s, moved to Kansas City from Israel to be near their son. He’d had a heart attack; she had stomach cancer. They weren’t eligible for any US benefits except rent subsidies.

So JFS found them an apartment and arranged for the subsidies. Then, JFS helped them enroll in an English as a Second Language class, and provided medical, rental, and emergency funds. Finally, we helped them navigate the government bureaucracy to obtain their American citizenship so that they are now eligible for US government assistance.

Today, this family is together at this important time in their lives.
